Grey Harlings Hotel was a fantastic stay. The rooms were large and comfortable, with incredibly cozy beds. The views overlooking the golf course were beautiful and serene. Highly recommended for a relaxing getaway.

Nice place to stay in Montrose! The staff is sweet, always smiling and always ready to help! Our room was nice, not outstanding but good enough to stay one night. They recommended us restaurants for our dinner, which was a great choice from them, and they booked it for us too! The hotel is just meters away from the golf course, which is pleasant when you want to watch people play, and if you want the sea, you just have to walk 5-10mins. Very nice place with very nice people, and the breakfast is enough to skip lunch!

We stayed 1 night and room was nice and clean. Receptionist was lovely, super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good and very friendly staff. Hotel is directly next to golf course, beautifully.

My partner and I stayed here for a couple of days. we had a ground floor room with a garden view the room was comfortablethe bed was big we had a relaxing time, the hotel didn't have a restaurant but there were a few in town that reception recommend to us, the hotel did breakfast only excellent, food staff and the owner were friendly and helpful explaining to what was on in nearby villages and places to visit .thank you very much, we will be back Gordon and Annette xx

I booked two nights at this lovely Hotel in Montrose. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable with great Amenities and shower room. Breakfast was delicious and at a very high standard. I could not fault it. Located close to Montrose beach, restaurants and a couple of bars it is in a quiet yet convenient location. Close enough to town to walk if you want. I would Definately stay here again and highly recommend this Hotel.

Staying at the Grey Harlings was an absolute treat! Right out the front door is one of the great links course in Scotland, Montrose Golf Links. Our host was wonderful, great breakfast and Excellent coffee. Thanks!!

We recently stayed at the Grey Harlings on a trip to see family. Cannot recommend it enough. Rooms were comfortable and clean with everything you needed. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Shinade is an asset to your business as she couldn’t do enough to help us. The breakfast was delicious and the location was perfect. Lovely stay and great value!

Stayed here for a week on business and really liked it. It's situated very close to the golf course and beach, so great for running. The rooms were spacious and the breakfast was perfect. Will be returning.

This was by far the best place we stayed at on our wonderful Scotland trip. Our only regret is that we could not stay longer. Breakfast was lovely, the room was comfortable and clean and the area was great. Last but certainly not least, I think we caught her on her last day, but Brooke was awesome!

I've stayed a couple of times of late for work , staff are very friendly, hotel is immaculately clean, beds are extremely comfortable and the cooked breakfast is very good , it ticks all the boxes.

We stayed overnight whilst visiting Montrose for the football - we had a very nice stay in a room overlooking the Golf Course and sand dunes - everything was very pleasant and the staff were super friendly and efficient. Will definitely be back if Dunfermline Athletic fail to get promoted to the Championship 😉

I booked 2 x rooms for my elderly mother and myself. She unfortunately became Ill that morning and couldn’t stay for obvious medical reasons. The hotel still took full payment. Disgusting….. absolutely disgusting . Even after I explained the situation.

The hotel was in fantastic spot. 5 minutes walk to the beach and across from golf course . Staff were amazing and friendly. Breakfast was amazing. Would definitely go back

While I’m sure this hotel would be suitable for many customers, unfortunately my experience as a cycle tourist on a multi-week bike tour was negative. Upon arriving with my bicycle I enquired about a safe place to store it overnight. I was told the hotel can’t store bikes and they have nowhere secure they are willing to let me put it. I explained that I was travelling solo on a multi-day trip, with my bike as my only means of transport, and so leaving it unsecured isn’t a risk I was happy to take. Unfortunately this was met with polite but blank indifference amounting to nothing more than a “sorry, can’t help you”. I was directed to the “bike rack” outside reception. Unfortunately this is one of those ground-level style of racks that only allow you to fit your front wheel in to keep the bike from falling over, but doesn’t allow you to actually secure the frame to it. Making them completely useless as a secure way to lock a bike. I tried explaining this but the receptionist didn’t seem to register what I was talking about and again reiterated there was nothing they could do for me. She did mention that it wasn’t a dangerous area and so theft was unlikely, but also said “don’t hold me to that”, making clear the hotel would accept no responsibility. So at this point I was left with a bike I couldn’t risk being stolen, with no secure location to store it overnight, not even a functional bike rack to lock it to and staff blankly refusing to offer any help. Leaving me no option but to simply leave and find accommodation elsewhere. Perhaps if I’d kicked up more of a fuss I could have I could have eventually persuaded them to help me, but I’d already had a long and difficult day and begging staff to let me put my bike somewhere inside just wasn’t something I could be bothered with. In the hotel’s defence, I absolutely should have called ahead to confirm if they could safely store my bike. I didn’t do my due diligence in this case which isn’t the hotel’s fault. However, having cycled the length of Britain and multiple other countries, this is the first time a hotel has been completely unwilling to help me safely store my bike. From tiny B&Bs to large chain hotels, staff have always found a secure solution for me, often going out of their way to be helpful when they see I’m living off the bike. In contrast, the shoulder-shrugging sense of indifference in this case did bother me. I think this hotel would be great for a lot of people, and I’m sure the positive reviews are deserved. But for bicycle tourers the lack of safe storage and unwillingness of the staff to help make it a complete non-starter.

Where do I start? Service was spectacular and kind. Always up for a chat which made the stay more homely. We didn't eat much of the food but the breakfasts we did have was out of this world. The only problem with the stay was the fact we didn't want to leave. I'll be coming back again and again.

Staff were amazing and very helpful hotel itself was excellent my room was clean well furnished with excellent view. Whilst it was not an en-suite room my bathroom exclusive for my use was right opposite room and well what can I say apart from I need my bathroom doing to the same standard lol. Breakfast was included in the room price and I was given a choice of times for my sitting, the breakfast itself was excellent and set me up for the day ahead. I would highly recommend this place if it was not for the fact I wish to return for a few nights later this year and don’t want everyone booking it up so there are no rooms when I want one lol. Get booked up as you cannot go wrong especially at the prices charged

The Grey Harlings is a great hotel right on the golf course and just a 5 minute walk to the beach. The rooms are always clean and comfy beds. Always stay there when in Montrose

Stayed 26th April 2022 for one night.. It needs to be said, this is a great hotel.. I found every element of the experience to be positive. The booking over the phone, the check-in on arrival, the efficiency of the staff with email and paper VAT invoice (business traveller) were all tip-top..10/10. The cleanliness and presentation of the hotel in general and the room I had (3) was up to a very high standard. The restaurant is currently closed for dinner, but there are loads of local delivery companies. I had a domino's pizza delivered to reception, 27 minutes after ordering on-line. There is also a highly-rated Australian themed restaurant, 100 yards or so walk from the hotel.. The breakfast IS served in the hotel and is amongst the very best cooked breakfasts I've had in my many years as a business traveller. To cap it all, it's a 5 minute gentle stroll to the deserted beach for a bit of chill-out time and it even overlooks what is said to be the world's 5th oldest golf course.. I have a biggish van and was able to park in the hotel carpark with no problems. In summary then, a gem of a find and I wouldn't hesitate to return the next time I'm in Montrose on business or pleasure. Picture is by the sea a 5 minute stroll away
